Orpyca is distributed under the GNU Affero General Public Licence, version 3. This summary is a plain-language explanation and does not replace the text of the licence, which is the only document with legal effect.
What you may do
Use the system for any purpose, without paying and without asking permission. Install it on as many servers as you like and for as many users as you need. Study the code, audit it and verify what it does with your documents. Modify it to suit your institution. Hire whoever you want to maintain it: you do not depend on us.
What you must do if you distribute changes
If you hand a modified version of the system to a third party, or offer it as a service to other institutions over a network, you must make your modifications available under this same licence. That is the difference between the AGPL and other free licences: it also covers use as a service.
What it does NOT require
Using Orpyca inside your own institution, even modified, does not oblige you to publish anything. The documents you manage with the system are yours and the licence says nothing about them: it applies to the software, not to your data.
No warranty
The software is provided as is, without warranty of any kind. If you need a contractual commitment on availability, defect correction or response times, that is a services contract, not a licence.
